tent camping great smoky mountains

my friends and I want to camp in Gatlinburg for spring break …?
but I want to be basically in the middle of nowhere, with nothing more than a fire and a tent. i dont want to be where other people are camping, just me and my friends. I want to be more or less isolated. Do you know of a place like this where we can go camping at night and during the day and walk back gatlinburg go do fun things? Is it legal to do that in a state park, like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
In the Smoky Mountains, Camping is permitted only in designated camping areas, and for good reason. The Forest Service maintains camps, and helps you stay safe from the bears that live in the mountains. Black bears are generally timid, but entering the field and break everything in search of food. And black bears are very large and very dangerous. Therefore, you can find a place to camp away from other campers, but will have to be in the designated camps. Cades Cove, Tremont, and a couple of other areas are really nice. Go to http://www.nps.gov/grsm/ For more park information. – Stuart
