Scotland before starting university next August.?

Me and my friends (about 6 or 7 of us) want to go camping in Scotland next August I need a variety of answers. First, my mom does not recognize im mature enough, so I need arguments to contribute. Secondly, I need campsites or youth hostels, preferably with web sites, allowing 6 or 7 16 years old at the camp / stay. We already have tents available and are planning to travel by train. That brings me to my third question, schedules and costs of Sheffield / Barnsley to Scotland, preferably, either in the Scottish Borders or Dumfries and Galloway. This is in August 2010.
